Accommodation

Canberra offers a range of accommodation, from 5 star hotels, boutique hotels, apartments and student accommodation to cater for every possible option. Easy accessibility, high speed internet access and great places to dine are just some of the features Canberra can offer to meet the needs of all travelers.

Air Access

Canberra International Airport is less than 20 minutes by car, taxi or bus to the centre of the capital territory and the National Convention Centre. Direct flights to and from all capital cities and regional areas, plus a majority of metropolitan centres across the globe are readily available through a wide range of airlines. Canberra can have heavy fog so it is recommended that you travel the day prior to the conference commencing.

Dining

The multicultural nature of the national capital has brought about a deliciously successful dining industry and attracted prominent restaurateurs and operators from around the world to mix within the city’s 500 restaurants.

Dress Code

Business casual clothes are suitable for the Meeting Sessions and the Welcome Reception. Dress code for the Conference Dinner is “After five”.

Insurance/Liability

Delegates are strongly advised to secure appropriate travel and health insurance. Delegate registration fees do not provide any insurance coverage. The Organising Committee and the Congress Office accept no responsibility for any loss in this regard nor accept liability for the damages of any nature sustained by participants or their accompanying persons for loss or damage to their personal property as a result of RACP Congress and exhibition or related events.

Name Badges

All delegates will receive a name badge upon registration. This badge is the official pass and must be worn to obtain entry to all sessions and inclusive social events and associated activities.

Registration Desk

On arrival at the Canberra Convention Centre, please make your way to the Registration Desk to collect your name badge and material. The Meeting Managers team will be able to assist you with information throughout the Meeting. The Registration Desk will be open the following hours (subject to program changes):

Transport

The close proximity of hotels, in many cases, eliminates the need for on ground transportation as delegates can walk to many venues and activities. When transportation is required options include bus, taxi, shuttles and rail.

Value

Accommodation, transport, meals and activities are much more cost effective in Canberra. The majority of Canberra’s national attractions offer free admission which makes this destination great value for money.

Variety

Canberra is home to the nationally renowned lake Burly-Griffin, locally awarded vineyards, an array of icons and monuments, cafes and restaurants.

Weather

Canberra winters are cool to cold with generally westerly winds. However winter is also a time when Canberra can experience clear, sunny days with light winds and a considerable number of frosts can occur. The mean daily maximum for July is 11.2 °C while the mean daily minimum is −0.2 °C.

Snow tends to fall on the ranges to the west, and during winter this snow cover can be readily visible from the city reminding the visitor the NSW ski-fields are only 2.5 hours drive away.
